Discipleship in Africa, particularly in Kenya, is a strenuous undertaking. The socio-economic challenges, multiple world views and different cultures affect how Christians in Africa relate with God, and those utilizing the Gospel of Prosperity and Health for their own benefit are aware of these things and have taken advantage of those needs. They have been leading many astray from having the right relationship with Jesus, which has led to more misery, especially for those less privileged.
Our goal is to equip young people with theological skills, which will enable them to navigate their Christian lives and of those around them with sound theology. We envision a new generation that leads a life of discipleship that is Bible-based and God-pleasing.
Starting February 2023, SRSInternational, in cooperation with Word of Life Kenya and Kick-off to Hope (Kenya and Burundi), have been working together to offer a discipleship school for young people between the ages of 18 and 25. They learn how to understand their own cultures and worldviews so that they may comprehend how they think, live and make decisions.
Some of the aspects important to this way of living comes in the way of understanding theological teaching and how to interpret the Bible and grasp the worldview of the Bible. Another area of growing is to Learn skills through Sports missionary activities (The majority of the youth in Kenya are accessible through sports). They also can learn how to disciple one another in the world of sports, as they themselves participate in the world of sports. And lastly, they learn how to utilize sports to communicate the truths of the Gospel in their communities.
We are looking forward to running this discipleship school for the next 5 years, knowing that we will equip many others who will in turn equip many others.
